In Moissac you will find only genuine local produce
Everyday the covered market is opened at Place des Recollets with local and regional produce. Side by side you will find butchers, a fishmonger, caterers, a wine merchant, a green grocer and bakers !
On Saturday and Sunday mornings at place des Recollets, is the outdoor market where the local producers sell their goods : fruit, vegetables, cheese, flowers, honey as well as regional retailers and bric à brac …. According to the harvests there are themed markets :
- May : red fruits
- June : Cherry and raspberry ……..the melon season starts!
- July and August : honey and local wines, plum, peach and nectarine
- September : the Chasselas grape !
Sylvain, 38 years' old :
I live near Bordeaux and on my way to Toulouse to visit my family, I try to stop in Moissac to do my shopping at the week-end market. What I like above all is the market promoting red fruits, especially the cherries ! So many different varieties, so delicious, so fresh, firm and perfectly ripe ! I am addicted : it takes a little hour and I am back on my way !
Moissac outdoor market show cases the trade mark of the town as France’s greatest orchard (Tarn-et-Garonne is the first producer of plums and apples in France and the third for table grapes). If you appreciate other delicacies of our region, try Castelsarrasin market (7 km away) on Thursday mornings from October to February with his "gras" market : foie gras, gizzard, duck breast….
